Management notes

As the Intervening Public Officer for the Cebil Redondo Commune, we have begun important changes in the community. In addition to the public works we announced, such as lighting (most of which is finished) and pavement, we also have begun remodeling the two schools already there, as well as the construction of three new ones; remodeling of the area’s two health centers, which goes along with social work, which always requires urgent solutions. However, this Friday we had a very special day: together with Silvia Rojkes (from the Ipacym, which promotes co-ops and mutual associations in our province) we handed over tools for three work co-operatives that have begun, with Promevi (Housing Improvement Program, in Spanish), which will be used to start improvement on the first 50 houses included in the program in Villa Carmela. After this first step, the next thing will be the remodeling of the bathroom, kitchen and one bedroom of another 350 poor houses in the area. Through this program we hope to drastically change the precarious conditions of almost all of the homes in the area by the end of the year. We had a promising beginning last Friday so that those three small companies start on their paths as entrepreneurial ones. Until now the experience we have had in the province with starting up these co-ops has generally been good.
